Special fund raising event!

We at SASHA are just "beside ourselves" about a one-of-a-kind fund raising event which will benefit Saddlebred Rescue, one of the charities that benefit from our annual show. A special event will be held during the SASHA Charity Horse Show March 5 - 7. At the end of Friday night's session, an exhibition we are calling "Sittin' Pretty for Saddlebreds". Bill Marple, a true champion of the Saddlebred, has generously volunteered to ride sidesaddle - that's right - sidesaddle! But that's not the best part...He'll ride decked out with all of the appropriate sidesaddle attire, skirts and all!!

Message from the President

Welcome to the San Antonio Saddle Horse Association website. SASHA is an organization devoted to promoting the American Saddlebred in south and central Texas. We organize equestrian activities that are meant to engage horse enthusiasts of all breeds with this beautiful, majestic and versatile horse - the Saddlebred. Although many people think of our state as "cowboy country", the American Saddlebred actually has a rich and storied past in south Texas. Some of the greatest horses in Saddlebred history were bred and trained right here. You can read all about it by clicking the link History of SASHA.

SASHA is dedicated to putting on a fantastic horse show every March, the SASHA Charity Horse Show. We strive to put on a show that starts the year off right for everyone. We offer great competition for Saddlebreds, roadster ponies, Arabians and Half-Arabians in the San Antonio Rose Palace facility, a wonderful arena for equestrian competitions with both indoor and outdoor arenas and warm up rings. We also offer fun activities for the exhibitors and the audience with raffles, parties, great food, and live music - we even try to deliver nice weather for those northern barns that need to get out of the cold!

Finally, SASHA is committed to charitable organizations that help both horses and kids. We partner with Saddlebred Rescue and Visitation House. You can read about both of these organizations here.
