March 5-7, 2010 At the Rose Palace - www.sarosepalace.com

The SASHA Charity Horse Show and the Rose Palace was full of quality horses on the weekend of Mar. 5-7. This multi-breed horse show invites Saddlebreds, Arabians, Half-Arabians and Hackney ponies to compete in over 150 classes over the course of 3 days. It was great to see that a record number of American Saddlebreds showed up from many states, including OK, LA, TX and AZ. In addition, barns brought large numbers of Academy riders to compete in the full spectrum of classes for their riders. The disciplines on display over the weekend included saddleseat, hunt seat, western and side saddle.

A few special events brought extra excitement to the show this year, including an exhibition called Sittin' Pretty for Saddlebreds. On Friday evening, Bill Marple, a popular and well-known Texas equestrian rose to the challenge that was posted on trot.org last winter. For the benefit of Saddlebred Rescue Inc, he rode his World Champion 5-Gaited Pleasure horse, WC Colonel Clarence, in the show ring in full side saddle attire. He executed a complicated pattern while executing all 5 gaits, and, cheered on by the crowds raised over $1,000!

In addition, SASHA hosted the kids from Visitation House during the Saturday afternoon session for the 6th year in a row. The kids had an opportunity to ride in the ring on horses donated for the special leadline class by barns such as Ride N Style Academy, SGV Winning Ways, Shenandoah Stables and Victory Lane Farms.
